  4.     non-restartable exceptions.  xmalloc, xfile are wrappers around malloc
  5.     and file routines.  tcplib pretty much finished, chain-hash libarary
  6.     pretty much finished.  debugging library works well, and is now
  7.     implemented using the chain-hash library.  dynarray library exists,
  8.     but is not used in anything.
